
INDIO, Calif. (KABC) -- A preliminary 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck about 12 miles northeast of Indio in Riverside County at about 5:56 p.m. Monday, according to the USGS.
The quake had a depth of approximately 2 miles, USGS reported. Shaking was felt throughout the Los Angeles region, including Palm Springs and San Diego County.

Multiple aftershocks were reported ranging from 2.5 to 3.4 magnitude, according to the USGS.
There were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries.
USGS officials initially reported the quake as a preliminary 5.1 magnitude earthquake before being downgraded to 4.6 and later adjusted to 4.9.
