LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- In the movie "Age of Adaline," Blake Lively plays Adaline Marie Bowman, a woman born in 1908 whose life changes when she gets in a car accident one fateful night.

While it's not shown on the outside, Adaline becomes a very old woman. Ellen Burstyn plays her daughter.

"She's such an amazing actress that's a challenging dynamic to play. She comes in and she's so open and youthful in the way that she acts that it just makes it easy for us," Lively said.

In the movie, Adaline fears her abnormality will be discovered and moves around every 10 years, changing identities.

But she doesn't expect to fall in love with millionaire Ellis Jones, played by Michiel Huisman.

"It was very easy to imagine that Ellis would fall for a woman that has, first of all is so beautiful, but also has such great depth," Huisman said.

Adaline's age isn't the only secret revealed in the movie. There is another twist of fate, too. In order to capture the woman's elderly age, Lively had to get inside of her head.

"When you look at Adaline, who came of age in the 20s, there's something very formal and very proper about her, and very contained and very lady-like. So it was really about trying to capture that woman of the 1920s and then weaving in the different decades that would have influenced her and changed her and brought her up to contemporary times," she said.

The "Age of Adaline" is playing in theaters nationwide.
