Grocery chain Aldi is opening 10 new stores across the Southland beginning Thursday.
The cities getting new stores in Southern California are Anaheim, Arcadia, Buena Park, Cerritos, Covina, Fountain Valley, Inglewood, La Verne, Palmdale and San Bernardino, according to a press release issued by the supermarket company.
From Thursday to Sunday, each ALDI store will host a grand opening event that includes a ribbon-cutting ceremony, gift certificates and reusable eco-bag giveaways, and Produce for a Year sweepstakes.
"California customers who are new to ALDI might not recognize our brands, but they definitely will recognize the great taste and quality, and will love our everyday low prices," said Gordon Nesbit, Moreno Valley division vice president for ALDI.
The first 100 shoppers to arrive at each store will receive golden tickets redeemable for ALDI gift certificates of different amounts.
The April grand openings are the next step in the grocery retailer's plan to open about 45 stores in Southern California by the end of 2016, eight of which opened in May in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
"Great-quality groceries and everyday low prices make for an unmatched combination that shoppers love, and that couldn't be more true than it is right here in California," said Nesbit. "We are thrilled to be part of the SoCal community and are humbled by the very warm welcome that we've received so far."
