The digital media lab at Locke High School helped to center Joshua. His "C"s and "D"s became "A"s. Now he wants to help other students navigate the digital world.

"These kids see me as 'the master' of everything I do, and I'm not up to that point, but they motivate me to actually get to a point where I can answer any question they have," says Joshua.

Daphne Bradford is the mentor that saw the change and the huge potential in Joshua.

"He was straight 'A's in the ninth grade, when you know, he just had a little trouble growing up, and he got back on board and slammed that report card and got those 'A's, I said, 'OK, you're it, you got it,'" says Daphne Bradford, digital media instructor.

Joshua can see himself in many of the students he now assists. That is enough to move him to give more.

"You feel touched when somebody reaches out to you. I felt really touched when Ms. Bradford reached out to me. So it feels good to do the same for somebody else," says Joshua.

Now with the experience of the digital media lab, Joshua has a precise idea of his career path.

"The next goal is college, that's the next challenge. And to complete that, while getting myself together into film and actually try and own my own production company," says Joshua.

With a clear picture of his future and helping other students focus on theirs, he is our Cool Kid, Joshua Himes.
