The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is handling the case as they have jurisdiction over Universal CityWalk and Universal Studios.

According to the Sheriff's Department, 26-year-old Christopher Dominguez, who works as an employee from a private shoplifting prevention agency at Universal CityWalk, is accused of sexually assaulting and kidnapping a 17-year-old girl.

The alleged assault took place around 6 p.m. Monday in a parking lot adjacent to Universal CityWalk. According to the Sheriff's Department, Dominguez was arrested within hours after the incident was reported.

Universal CityWalk is a very popular spot for tourists from across the country and in Southern California. The Sheriff's Department wants people visiting the area to know they should not worry about their safety.

"CityWalk as you know is one of the safest and secure places in our county. And so the individual was arrested and placed on $100,000 bond, and he has bonded out," said Steve Whitmore from the L.A. County Sheriff's Department.

An investigation into the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault is still ongoing.
