Cop accused of sex crimes in uniform

RIVERSIDE, Calif Investigators believe there may be many more victims.

For 12 years, Officer Robert Forman patrolled the streets of Riverside. Part of his job was to find criminals and bring them to justice. Now he's being brought to justice. He is facing three felony charges: Two counts of oral copulation involving a public official and one count of sexual battery.

"We don't believe there has been a pattern in practice for his entire tenure. We believe this is something that most likely started after the first part of this year," said Captain Mark Boyer, Riverside Police Department.

Police say Forman would respond to calls for service and that's when the alleged sexual acts would happen in the neighborhood.

Police say the first alleged victim came forward to officers who just happened to be in her neighborhood on an unrelated investigation.

Captain Boyer says he understands how difficult it must have been for the victim to come forward and tell police that one of their own was responsible for such an act.

"There was a little bit of skepticism on their part, that we would actually listen to them. And as the investigation went on and we proved to them that we were going to take their allegations seriously, they were more and more comfortable with coming forward for us," said Captain Boyer.

Attempts to reach Forman were unsuccessful. Eyewitness News knocked on the door of an address that matched his name, but there was no answer.

Forman is out on bail, but he is not on patrol. He is on paid administrative leave.

If you know anything that may help Riverside police, you should call the department at (951) 353-7112.
