Man's family can predict gender of kids

December 12, 2008 12:00:00 AM PST
One way to predict the gender of a man's children may be his family.British researchers studied over 900 family trees, and found that men were more likely to have sons if they had more brothers, and more likely to have daughters if they had more sisters.

The link was not seen in women.

Scientists say there is strong evidence of a genetic component affecting the relative number of X and Y sperm produced by men.

It's published in the Journal Evolutionary Biology.
