"We have a special cat-designed heating pad that gets to just the right temperature," said Nancy Smith, California Cat Center.
Cats are fed special healthy meals. There is a veterinarian on staff and there are groomers to take care of every need. Favorite programming is also featured on a flat-screen TV.
"We also have spa music playing in the background," said Smith. "We have the live birds for their entertainment as well as the fountain. And all those things are what we call 'environmental enrichment.' "
The cats are usually kept apart, but there are family suites available.
Cats may be boarded for a few days or several weeks. Rates start at $45 per night. Spa services incur extra costs.
"You know that your cats are not only getting good medical care, they're getting observed -- their intake, their output, making sure that they eat," said Smith.
Feline customers seem to be quite satisfied with their stay.
