'Knock knock burglars' hit L.A. area

LOS ANGELES The bandits hit more than 40 homes in /*Sherman Oaks*/, /*Encino*/ and /*Tarzana*/ over the past six months.

Surveillance video shows the suspects knocking on the front door of a home, then breaking inside.

Police said their strategy is simple. If someone answers their knock, they claim to be lost. When there's no answer, they break into the home.

The bandits have targeted homes and condos during daylight hours.
