Fees to go up at Calif. state parks

August 12, 2009 5:05:34 AM PDT
Fees are going up at California state parks as the agency grapples with the budget crisis and potential closures. Starting August 17, day-use parking fees will increase from $2 to $5 at various parks. Camping fee will jump from $10 to $21 a night.

Meanwhile, annual passes will be back on sale for $125 apiece.

The state had stopped selling them last week, worrying park users that the price might go up.

State parks officials say the price for the passes may still change at a later date.
