3 shot during vigil for shooting victim

SOUTH LOS ANGELES A group had gathered at a makeshift memorial site for 13-year-old Daquan Allen, who was gunned down last weekend.

Police say a rival gang-member walked up to the mourners and started shooting. Two women and one man were hit.

They were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive.

Police had initially said Allen, a 7th grader, was a known gang member, but they now say he was not.

Police said Allen was standing outside in the 8800 block of South Broadway when somebody approached him just after 12:15 p.m. Sunday. They exchanged a few words before the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the teen twice in the chest.

People who knew him said he was a good kid who got involved with the wrong crowd.

No one has been arrested. Police believe the gunman was a gang member.
