Ex-hot dog eating champ arrested at contest

The annual Fourth of July hot dog eating contest on Coney Island ended with a lot more drama than usual this year as a former champion eater stormed the stage. Police arrested 32-year-old Takeru Kobayashi and led the six time champ off in handcuffs Sunday.

"Let me eat," said Kobayashi as he was being held by police.

He did not compete this year over a contract dispute, but crashed the stage after rival Joey Chestnut chomped his way to a fourth championship at the annual Nathan's International Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Chestnut, who is from San Jose, put away 54 hot dogs in 10 minutes to claim the coveted mustard-yellow belt and $20,000 prize.

Meanwhile, Kobayashi faces charges of resisting arrest and trespassing.
