"He knows curriculum. He knows how to run a school system. I really have high hopes. I think we'll have a good relationship," said board member Brenda Hill. "I'm excited about being here, and I'm anxious to begin," said Pecko after the vote.
Pecko's salary will be $175,000 a year. He will also receive insurance benefits, moving expenses, and a $500/month car allowance.

At Tuesday night's meeting, the board also voted to seek help from taxpayers. In a 4-1 vote, the board took the first step to put a $7.8 million property tax levy on the November ballot. Again, Larry Sykes was the only board member to vote against the proposal.
