Nat'l forests offering 'fee-free weekend'

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. The San Bernardino, Angeles, Los Padres, and Cleveland /*national forests*/ are offering a "back-to-school" free weekend Aug. 14 and 15.

A National Forest Adventure Pass will not be required for visitors in areas that typically require one.

/*San Bernardino*/ National Forest supervisor Jeanne Wade Evans said "back- to-school weekend is a great way to connect communities with public lands all over the country."

Fee-free days are offered in cooperation with other federal agencies under the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. Similar fee-free days include National Public Lands Day on Sept.25 and /*Veterans' Day*/ on Nov. 11.

While the admission is free, other fees, such as those in campgrounds, reservation and group sites, are still required.
