Woman rescued from lot with 2 snarling dogs

October 6, 2010 12:00:00 AM PDT
Philadelphia police rescued a woman trapped in a used car lot with two big menacing dogs. The woman was looking at cars when the man who ran the lot apparently forgot about her, locked up and left.

"I thought they were going to tear me to pieces," said the trapped woman, Sylvia McCall. "I'm scared of dogs."

A girl passing by saw her and distracted the dogs until help arrived.

"Every time the dogs would try to go back to her, I would whistle and call them back over to where I was," said Tyerah Smith, who had tears in her eyes as she spoke.

An officer showed up and asked people to distract the dogs while he got the woman out by pushing the gate doors open.

The woman was shaken up, but otherwise unhurt.
