Toledo community remembers riot

TOLEDO, OH That's the day a neo-Nazi group came to Toledo to protest gangs in the north end. It all started at Wilson Park where the neo-Nazis held their rally, sparking a four-hour riot.

Today more than 50 people gathered to discuss the neighborhood's turn-around. Today people who live in this area say they've taken control of their lives and future.

Area residents say back then there was a sense of division in the neighborhood and bad blood with the police department.

But, community leaders say today the "ONE Village Community," as they call themselves, has come back stronger than ever. Several organizations joined hands to create a neighborhood Boys & Girls Club, safety plans, and hire young people.

While the future looked grim five years ago, today it appears strong and bright. The ONE Village Community knows there's still a lot of work to do to continue to build and revitalize this area, and these people tell us they're ready to do that work.
