Ventura police discover 24 ransacked cars

VENTURA, Calif. Officers initially received a call about 2 a.m. of a car alarm sounding in the area of Sandberg Lane.

When police arrived, they found the windows smashed and the contents of the car ransacked. While searching for suspects, officers discovered nine other cars had been broken into on the surrounding streets of Tennyson and Murdoch lanes.

Police were later called at 7 a.m. to a mobile home park across the street from the earlier car burglaries to investigate about a stolen car.

While canvassing the area, they found 14 vehicles had been ransacked, of which four had property missing.

Officials said all the cars at the mobile home park had been left unlocked.

One witness saw two people running from the scene.
