Magic Mountain reveals new Green Lantern ride

VALENCIA, Calif. The new ride brings the park's roller coaster count to 18, regaining the title of Coaster Capital of the World, previously held by Cedar Point in Ohio.

The Green Lantern coaster is described as a "completely vertical zigzag pattern sitting in eight-person vehicles," according to a statement. Riders will be taken up a 107-foot lift hill, then spun through 825 feet of twisted vertical track, which includes three 360-degree spins.

Magic Mountain also announced that the Superman: The Escape ride has been redesigned. The ride, now named Superman: Escape from Krypton, will go backwards.

Along with the Green Lantern coaster and Superman: Escape from Krypton, a new kid's roller coaster will be introduced in 2011. The ride is 679 feet long and reaches speeds up to 21 mph.
