Sun's magnetic plasma caught on film by NASA

NASA has released some fascinating pictures of recent activity on the surface of the sun.The photos show a snake-like line escaping from the sun - which is magnetic plasma. It's hundreds of thousands of miles long.

NASA's solar dynamics observatory captured the images.

The quick video is actually a sped-up 3.5-hour time lapse.

Currently, the sun is in the active part of its 11-year solar weather cycle.
