LA designates Little Bangladesh neighborhood

LOS ANGELES, Calif. The neighborhood is a five-block area around Third Street and Alexandria Avenue, near /*downtown Los Angeles*/.

L.A. Mayor /*Antonio Villaraigosa*/ and other city leaders joined a celebration on Saturday.

They said official designations, like Little Bangladesh, /*Koreatown*/ and other neighborhoods are a way of recognizing the contributions of L.A.'s various communities.

They say it also gives people more personal pride in their neighborhoods.
