The producer of the "Superman" movies of the 70s and 80s has been released from the hospital after being treated for head injuries.

Ilya Salkind left the hospital in Cuernavaca, Mexico with family over the weekend, according to Morelos state medical office spokesperson Arturo Torres.

Torres described Salkind as being in good condition.

Salkind had been staying at a home near Mexico City and friends reported him missing last week. The 63-year-old apparently did not have any identification when he was admitted to the hospital, said Torres.

Morelos Attorney General Pedro Benitez says Salkind was hurt in Tepoztlan, south of Mexico City. It was unclear how he was injured.

Salkind produced "Superman" in 1978 and two sequels.
