Saturday's full moon will be the biggest in almost 20 years

March 18, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
If the moon looks a little bigger and brighter Saturday night, it's not just your imagination.

Saturday's full moon is called a super "perigee moon" -- the biggest in almost 20 years. NASA says the moon will appear about 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than usual.

The rare lunar sight occurs when the moon is at its closest possible point of orbit around the Earth -- about 212,000 miles away.

If you miss it, you'll have to wait until 2029 to see it again.
