Experts said the drug shows promise. The treatment called Qnexa combines the migraine drug Topomax and the weight loss drug Phentermine.
A study shows that when combined Qnexa it resulted in twice as much weight loss as the only approved long term anti-obesity medication.
Researchers said the drug also appeared to reduce other obesity related indicators like blood pressure and cholesterol. The study was paid for by the pharmaceutical company that makes Qnexa.
