May 29, 2011 12:00:00 AM PDT
An Orange County chef died after getting in a three-vehicle crash on the 101 Freeway as he was heading to a car show.

Eric Doran, 36, was killed when his Model-A T-Box Roadster crashed in Thousand Oaks on Friday. His wife, Kat, who was a passenger in the car, was critically injured.

The two were headed to a car show in Santa Maria. Doran was a hotrod enthusiast.

The California Highway Patrol said there was construction in the area, which slowed down traffic. Doran's car rear-ended a Honda Accord and then was hit by a Dodge Ram pickup.

Doran was the co-owner of Eat Chow restaurant in Costa Mesa.
