'Cash Cab' taxi hits, kills Vancouver pedestrian

VANCOUVER, British Columbia

Police said a replica taxi from the Canadian version of the show struck and killed a pedestrian, described as a 61-year-old man from Surrey, B.C.

The crash happened as a producer was driving the replica cab back to a storage facility after filming was done for the day.

The accident was under investigation and no charges have been filed yet against the driver.

The game show is about unassuming people, flagging down a replica taxi and becoming instant contestants where they have to answer trivia questions for cash prizes.

The U.S. version, now filmed in New York and Chicago, has been broadcast on the Discovery Channel since 2005.
