Contaminated papayas appear to be the cause of a salmonella outbreak in 23 states, including California.

The tainted papayas come from Mexico and are distributed by Agromod Produce, Inc.

There have been 97 reported cases of salmonella agona and 10 people have been hospitalized.

No deaths have been reported so far.

Agromod Produce has voluntarily recalled all papayas sold before July 23.
