Local theater company has massive moving sale

GLENDALE, Calif.

The big move means great bargains for shoppers, especially those with a taste for show business. Hats, purses, scarves and much more can be yours this weekend at bargain prices.

It's a rummage sale of sorts featuring unique vintage and period clothing and accessories. The collection is from the local theatre company "A Noise Within."

"This is just amazing," said actor Paul Rogan from Impro Theatre. "It's a theatre company getting rid of things they don't need. But for people like us, other theatre companies, we need these things. So it's like a perfect transaction. We get to come by and look through and take things we like."

It is an actor's paradise no doubt, but you don't have to be a thespian to shop here. There are lots of fun fashion finds, like a Audrey Hepburn Parisian-style outfit or a gorgeous Elizabethan gown if you want to be Juliet for your next costume party.

"There's a collection of shoes, clothing, hats," said co-founder Julia Rodriguez-Elliott."And in the area of furniture, we have some scenic pieces very specific."

A Noise Within is hoping to raise $20,000 from the sale to help fund its big move from its Glendale home of 18 years to its new permanent home in Pasadena, a 33,000-square-foot state-of-the-art venue with a big $13.5 million price tag.

"We are all very excited," said Elliott. "This move is such an incredible opportunity for our organization. So a part of it is reminiscing because to the person purchasing them it is just a costume, but to us it has a history."

The address for A Noise Within is 234 South Brand Boulevard in Glendale. It's open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There is a $2 admission fee, cash is preferred.
