Closing arguments to begin in gay murder trial

CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES

Brandon McInerney, 17, is charged with first-degree murder and a hate crime in the 2008 shooting of classmate Larry King at E.O. Green Junior High School. Prosecutors argue McInerney, who was 14 at the time, shot King because he was gay.

McInerney's attorneys don't dispute that he shot and killed King, but they contend he snapped because King made unwanted sexual advances.

Prosecutors contend the murder was premeditated and McInerney was fueled by white supremacy ideology.

The jury should get the case tomorrow.
