During the third quarter of 2011, on-location filming has increased by 15 percent compared to last year.
The numbers are even better for feature film production, which has gone up by 50 percent.
Many of those feature projects received state tax credits for filming in the Los Angeles area.
The rise in feature-film production was partially offset by an anticipated drop in television drama shoots. On-location TV drama production dropped by 20.3 percent as a result of the loss of 10 one-hour series.
FilmL.A., a nonprofit group that coordinates filming permits, put together the report.
