Rare eclipse lights up US, Africa and Europe

LOS ANGELES

The phenomenon was described as a 'hybrid eclipse'. Some areas witnessed a total blackout with others experiencing a partial version.

NASA is calling it "the most interesting eclipse of the year."

Some experts have calculated the moon would cover between 10 to 23 percent of the sun.

Experts also warned people not to look directly at the sun during the hybrid eclipse without taking safety precautions.
