Officers fatally shoot armed robbery suspect at end of police chase in La Habra

Armed robbery suspect dead after police chase ends in La Habra
A suspect wanted for armed robbery was shot and killed by officers after a police chase that ended in La Habra early Friday morning.

LA HABRA, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect wanted for armed robbery was shot and killed by officers after a police chase that ended in La Habra early Friday morning.



Just after 1 a.m., Fullerton police officers located a white Ford Explorer that was wanted in connected to an armed robbery in San Bernardino. They tried to pull the vehicle over at the intersection of Harbor Boulevard and Chapman Avenue in Fullerton, but the suspect fled and a pursuit was initiated.



During the chase, the suspect crashed and hit an innocent driver at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Imperial Highway in La Habra. One of the vehicles burst into flames.



That innocent driver that was hit was hospitalized with moderate injuries.



At some point after that crash, authorities say the suspect got out of the car and officers opened fire.



CPR was administered but the suspect, who authorities say appeared to be a male adult, died at the scene.



Additional details about what prompted officers to shoot were not immediately disclosed. La Habra police said a knife was recovered at the scene, but it's unclear if any other weapons were involved.
