Armed suspect surrenders after hourslong barricade in Woodland Hills

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. (KABC) -- An armed suspect surrendered to SWAT personnel after barricading himself for hours inside a Woodland Hills condominium complex Saturday.

Los Angeles police received a call around 4 p.m. When authorities arrived at the scene, shots were fired between the suspect and police. No one was hit during the exchange of gunfire.

The suspect then barricaded himself inside a complex in the 6000 block of Crape Myrtle Court. A SWAT team was called to the scene. Authorities said the man may have mental health issues.

By 8 p.m., the suspect surrendered to police.

No further information was immediately available.
