Body found in trunk of car in Canyon Country identified as Northern California man

CANYON COUNTRY, SANTA CLARITA (KABC) -- A body that was found in the trunk of a Honda Accord in Canyon Country was identified as 28-year-old Jose David Flores of Leggett in Mendocino County.

A sheriff's deputy was on routine patrol around 9:30 a.m. Sunday when he saw the blue Accord illegally parked on the shoulder by Golden Valley Road and Robert C. Lee Parkway.

The deputy stopped to conduct an investigation of the abandoned car and discovered the man's body.

It is unclear how long the car had been parked on the road, but witnesses said they saw the car parked there overnight.

Detectives have confirmed that Flores was the owner of the vehicle.

An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death.
