GARDEN GROVE, Calif. (KABC) -- A 14-year-old student was arrested Thursday on suspicion of leaving threatening notes at Bolsa Grande High School in Garden Grove after school staff recognized his writing and alerted investigators.

The first bomb threat note was found by a student on Tuesday and reported to school staff. The school was quickly placed on lockdown and authorities were called.

Garden Grove police evacuated the more than 2,000 students on campus and conducted a search of the school. They cleared the campus by about 3:30 p.m.

At the end of school Wednesday, another note was found on campus referencing a fire that had occurred over the weekend and the Tuesday bomb threat. It warned of a future shooting at the school.

In response, additional police were at the campus Thursday. After school staff contacted authorities about a possible suspect, investigators questioned the teen. They also obtained a search warrant for his home and seized "numerous items of evidence," according to a news release.

Investigators were trying to determine if the student was involved in a suspicious fire at the school on Sunday.

Garden Grove Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Gabriela Mafi thanked the police and fire department for their help.

"Everyone at GGUSD is extremely proud of the teamwork and patience that was demonstrated this week by the entire Bolsa Grande High School family," Mafi said.
