BUENA PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- Police arrested a man Saturday connected to a hit-and-run crash that killed a woman and injured another person in Buena Park.

The suspected driver, 60-year-old Nelson Ward Jr., is said to have struck two people at a Holiday Inn parking lot located on Beach Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue.

A woman identified as Jessica Lynn Brown Carvajal, 32, was pinned under a van and died at the scene. The male victim, 51-year-old Robert Shore, was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Buena Park Police Department.

Investigators said that Carvajal and Shore may have been in the vehicle with Ward before the crash. When the two got out of the car, they were struck by Ward, according to authorities.

The relationship among all three people is unknown.
