SANTA ANA, Calif. (KABC) -- A man climbed onto the roof of a Santa Ana laundromat after leading police on a chase Wednesday morning.

The man, identified as Porfirio Andalco, came down and surrendered to police just after 11:30 a.m.

According to police, Andalco initially pulled over for a traffic stop in Anaheim. But he drove away while the officer was checking the vehicle's VIN number.

The driver's wife and three children were inside the car, but the man stopped near State College Boulevard and Ball Road and let them out.

Andalco then drove to a strip mall at 1st and Bristol streets and entered the laundromat where his mother works. He climbed onto the roof and refused commands from police to come down.

After about 30 minutes, Andalco did come down and surrendered peacefully.

Police said he is a parolee and has outstanding warrants for a robbery in the city.
