DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The attorney for Chris Brown cast doubts on the woman who accused the singer of pulling a gun on her, stating the story was fabricated during a press conference he held Friday in downtown Los Angeles.
Mark Geragos, the attorney representing Brown, said police didn't find evidence to back up the claims of Baylee Curran.
He also suggested that Brown may have been set up.
The motive? Geragos said he's investigating reports that the former beauty pageant queen has a relationship with the mother of Brown's child.
"What's particularly disturbing to me is that this comes on the heels of a custody battle that he won," Geragos said.

Admitting custody is now a concern, Geragos discussed a key piece of evidence he was trying to authenticate: a text message allegedly sent by Curran indicating a plan to set Brown up.
If proven, Geragos said he'll call for a criminal investigation.
"Because if that text is true, then it gives great credence to what my client said initially, is that nothing happened and this was a set up," Geragos said.
As Geragos builds his case, Curran made headlines elsewhere.
Curran was wanted by police in New York for questioning in a grand larceny case, and just two months ago she had her 2016 Miss California Regional State Pageant title stripped away.

Pageant officials said she was accused of threatening other contestants, skipping out on community service and taking racy photos.
Geragos described that behavior as a pattern, one that could clear his high-profile client who he believed wasn't getting a fair shot because of his name and troubled past.
"I don't think he would have had that number of police officers out there and I certainly don't think that any of you would be here," Geragos said.
Los Angeles police would not detail what evidence was found inside Brown's home during their investigation, but Geragos stated that no gun or guns were located.
Brown was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon on Tuesday and was released hours later on $250,000 bail, according to online records. He was scheduled to be in court on Sept. 20.
