COMPTON, Calif. (KABC) -- A young man was shot and killed in front of a Compton home Monday night, and authorities are searching for the shooter.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department detectives learned around 10:40 p.m. that the victim was approached by a suspect who opened fire, hitting him multiple times, in the 500 block of North Sloan Avenue.
When detectives arrived at the scene, the victim was found in the driveway, unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A neighbor said the man was 19 or 20 and was not connected to any gangs. The neighbor said the victim was taking out the trash when he was killed.
The investigation was ongoing.
