REYNOSA, Mexico (KABC) -- A new bundle of joy was welcomed to the animal kingdom this week.
A rare cross between a zebra and a donkey, or a "zonkey," was born Monday at Reynosa Zoo in Northern Mexico.
Rayas, a female zebra, would sneak out every day to visit Ignacio, the dwarf albino donkey that lives on a nearby farm. Ignacio would also visit, zoo officials said.
Zebra and donkey chromosomes are not compatible, which makes the calf, named Khumba, extra special.
