DUI driver in wrong gear hits pedestrian in Downey

DOWNEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A driver suspected of driving under the influence was in the wrong gear when he reversed and hit a pedestrian and a parked car in Downey early Sunday, police said.

Downey police responded to a parking lot near the intersection of Downey Avenue and 3rd Street at 1:44 a.m. following the crash.

A female pedestrian was transported to a local hospital after suffering non-life threatening injuries to her legs. The driver was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
