Small earthquake hits near Catalina Island

AVALON, Calif. (KABC) -- A small earthquake struck near Catalina Island early Monday morning.

The 3.1-magnitude quake was centered 13 miles northeast of Avalon around 2:09 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.
