It's been nearly a year since "Glee" star Cory Monteith passed away from a toxic combination of heroin and alcohol. But now tragedy has struck the series again, this time in the death of cast member Becca Tobin's boyfriend Matt Bendik.

Bendik was found "face down" in bed by a maid in his Philadelphia hotel room, according to TMZ. But what's peculiar is the circumstances surrounding his death. Police say that there was no foul play involved, and no signs either of any type of drug or substance overdose. But with such bizarre circumstances surrounding Bendik's death, it only raises more questions on his life.

Here's what you need to know about Bendik.

Bendik was a nightclub owner born and raised in Los Angeles. His aspirations to make it big in the nightclub business started early, with Bendik operating a popular late-night DJ party at a closed Hollywood church, just during his sophomore year of high school. Word spread about Bendik's success as a promoter, leading to the infamous LA club Whiskey a Go-Go club offering him a spot to promote their Monday night party. All just at the age of 15.

Bendik went off to study Hotel Administration at Cornell, spreading his influence over nightclubs in New York and Las Vegas. Bendik owned AV nightclub in Hollywood, was the Director of Nightlife at Modern Honolulu, and conceived Voyeur Nightclub in West Hollywood, CA.

DBA nightclub in Hollywood, which Bendik helped create, changed its marquee late Thursday night to pay tribute to the managing partner: "We love you Matt."

Tobin and Bendik were reported as being very happy and in love. Tobin's Instagram feed shows many images of the couple smiling and spending time together. Although Bendik worked in the nightlife industry, he didn't hold the reputation of being a partier and drugs aren't believed to be a factor in his death.
