Glendale laser hair removal owner sexually assaulted clients, police say

GLENDALE, Calif. (KABC) -- The owner of a Glendale laser hair removal business was arrested for sexually assaulting his clients, according to police.

Authorities said 48-year-old Antonio Nozar, who also goes by Ali Nozar, was the owner and only employee of Smooth Skin Laser Clinic, located at 1016 East Broadway.

Detectives said they learned Nozar was not a medical physician or a registered nurse who is licensed to use laser to remove hair, which is required by law.

According to police, Nozar was using a doctor's name in order to make his business appear legitimate on his website.

The doctor, who investigators identified as 76-year-old Hooshang Tabibian, was receiving money from Nozar for the use of his name, police stated.

Police said they received three reports of sexual assault at Nozar's business.

The first report, according to authorities, was filed in 2009, but the case was rejected by the district attorney's office due to insufficient evidence.

Officials said a second report was filed in August of 2015 by a 31-year-old woman who stated Nozar had inappropriately touched her private areas.

Police said the most recent case was reported on Aug. 12 by a 28-year-old woman who stated Nozar licked her private area and made several attempts to kiss her.

Nozar was arrested at his Glendale home Wednesday and booked for multiple counts of sexual battery, and operating a business without proper license.

Police said there was also an active arrest warrant for Tabibian for unlawful practice of medicine.
