Police chase ends in Anaheim after Buena Park hookah lounge shooting
Buena Park police said two victims were taken to the hospital after a shooting outside a hookah lounge in the 8500 block of Beach Boulevard.

BUENA PARK, Calif. (KABC) -- Several people were detained after a police chase ended in Anaheim following a shooting outside a Buena Park hookah lounge early Sunday.

Buena Park police said the shooting happened in the parking lot of the hookah lounge located in the 8500 block of Beach Boulevard at about 2:20 a.m.

Two people were shot and taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to officials.

When officers arrived at the scene, they said the shooting suspects attempted to flee in an SUV.

"When they pulled into that location, they noticed several cars were leaving the parking lot," Sgt. Bret Carter with the Buena Park Police Department explained.

One of the vehicles in particular was speeding and driving erratically, police stated. According to officials, the vehicle was driving on the wrong side of the street along Stanton Avenue.

Police chased the SUV and the pursuit came to an end after the vehicle malfunctioned near Brookhurst Street and Lincoln Avenue in Anaheim.

The driver of the SUV jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to run away, but was caught shortly after, according to police.

Officials said four others in the vehicle were detained for questioning.

Details surrounding the shooting were not released. No other injuries were reported.
