HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (KABC) -- A man in his 40s was found dead of apparent gunshot wounds in Huntington Beach Sunday morning.
Police located his body on the 200 block of Memphis Avenue around 8:30 a.m., but investigators believe he died Saturday night.
During the investigation, officers shortly learned the Huntington Beach Police Department received a call around 11 p.m. Saturday regarding firecrackers in the area and someone yelling. Responding officers checked the area but were unable to locate anything unusual.
"The time of death appears to be consistent with the time of the call of firecrackers the previous evening," a Huntington Beach Police Department press release stated.
The man was found near a black beach cruiser-type bicycle. It remains unknown if the bicycle was his.
