Suspect killed, officer injured after Inglewood confrontation

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) -- A suspect was shot and killed during a confrontation with police that also left one officer injured early Friday morning.



Authorities say the officer-involved shooting happened in the area of Imperial Highway and Doty Avenue at about 3 a.m. The suspect was declared dead at the scene.



An officer was injured during the altercation, but the extent of his injuries was unclear.



One neighbor said she heard four or five shots, but did not hear yelling.



It's unclear what led to the deadly shooting, and it is not yet known if the suspect was armed. No further information was immediately available.



Streets in the area remain shut down as the investigation continues.
