A grieving father who lost his son during last week's murderous rampage in Isla Vista met face-to-face with the father of his son's killer for the first time on Sunday.

Richard Martinez has become an outspoken critic of politicians and the National Rifle Association since his son, Christopher Martinez, was shot to death inside the I.V. Deli.

Martinez was vocal with his condolences for Elliot Rodger's family and wanted to meet with Peter Rodger, the father of the man who killed six people before apparently shooting himself to death.

"This was a private meeting and conversation between grieving fathers and they were able to come to a common ground," Rodger family friend Simon Astaire said.
