RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (KABC) -- All evacuation orders for two wildfires burning in Riverside County were lifted Friday.
A brush fire that erupted Tuesday in the Santa Ana River bottom in Jurupa Valley expanded rapidly in the direction of homes, leaving many residents under evacuation orders and warnings.
The Bain Fire was first reported at 11:22 a.m. Tuesday on the north side of the dry channel, in the area of Bain Street and Limonite Avenue, just north of the Hidden Valley Nature Center, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
In the evening, the wind began to push the blaze toward the nearby city of Riverside, expanding evacuation orders and warnings to more residents.
While the fire continued to grow, the Riverside County Fire Department said crews made progress on containment lines around the perimeter.
Meanwhile, the Verona Fire burning in Homeland jumped containment lines and continued to burn, expanding evacuation warnings and orders for nearby residents.
It was first reported at 12:20 p.m. Tuesday near Verona Road and Juniper Springs Road, which is in an unincorporated, rural area between Diamond Valley Lake and Lake Perris.
The Verona Fire is forcing more evacuations as it continues to burn in the Riverside County community of Homeland.
A new section of homes along Juniper Flats Road was told to "leave immediately" around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Crews have the fire mapped at about 440 acres.
Crews continue to make progress on the Bain Fire, which is threatening homes in Jurupa Valley.
The blaze is now 25% contained after they worked through the night, fighting the flames from the air and the ground.
Overnight, some evacuation orders were downgraded to warnings, but many still remain in place.
Three people suffered from smoke inhalation, and a fourth was rushed to the hospital with what was described as traumatic injuries.
The Bain Fire burning in Riverside County grew to 1,375 acres by Tuesday evening, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The fire is at 10% containment as air and ground resources remain on scene, working to build containment lines around the perimeter, officials said.
Evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect for nearby residents, who are being asked to avoid the area.
The Verona Fire, which is burning in the homeland area in Riverside County, grew in size on Tuesday night after crews previously said forward progress had stopped.
The Verona Fire was first reported at 12:20 p.m. in the area of Verona Road and Juniper Springs Road. It's an unincorporated, rural area between Diamond Valley Lake and Lake Perris.
By Tuesday night, it grew to 439 acres with 0% containment.
Earlier in the evening, crews said the forward rate of spread had stopped, and the fire was holding at 200 acres.
However, in an update at 7:10 p.m., the Riverside County Fire Department said the fire had jumped control lines and continued to grow, burning at a critical rate of spread.
According to the department, one firefighter sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Eyewitness News spoke with one resident in the neighborhood, which locals call Juniper Flats, who said he believes three to four homes have burned in the area.
AIR7 video also showed a number of vehicles and outbuildings on fire.
The cause of both fires is under investigation.
