MINNEAPOLIS -- A 37-year-old man was shot and killed Saturday morning in Minneapolis -- the second shooting of a U.S. citizen this month by federal agents in the city.

The shooting of Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse, ratcheted up tensions, as protesters clashed in the streets with law enforcement in the aftermath of the shooting.

The incident followed the fatal shooting of Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother, on Jan. 7.

Texas Governor Abbott says White House needs to 'recalibrate' ICE efforts in Minnesota

Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, who has been a strong supporter of Trump's crackdown on immigration, said Monday the White House needs to "recalibrate" what it is doing in Minnesota.

Abbott said he believes the White House is working on a "game plan" for immigration agents to "go about their job in a more structured way to make sure that they are going to be able to remove these people, but without causing all the kinds of problems and fighting in communities that they are experiencing right now."

Abbott also blamed Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor for not doing enough to calm the situation on the ground.

President Donald Trump said that he just had a "very good" phone call with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey.

"Some federal agents will begin leaving the area tomorrow, and I will continue pushing for the rest involved in this operation to go," he added.

Trump said that border czar Tom Homan will meet with Frey on Tuesday "to continue the discussion."

The call follows Trump's phone call with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz earlier Monday.

Judge orders Trump administration to address Operation Metro Surge motives

U.S. District Judge Katherine Menendez has ordered the Trump administration to respond to Minnesota's argument that Operation Metro Surge was created to "punish" the state for its sanctuary laws.

In the order, the judge is asking the government to address the state's claims that the operation was put in place to punish the state for adopting sanctuary laws and policies; coerce officials into changing state and local laws; compel the state to use its resources to share information with federal immigration enforcement; and force local authorities to use more resources to hold immigration targets in detention for longer than otherwise allowed.

The order follows a hearing earlier Monday on Minnesota's request for a temporary restraining order to halt the Trump administration's immigration enforcement in the state.
