Polls have closed in some states and the results are coming in, in the high-stakes presidential match-up between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. According to 538's forecast, both candidates have a roughly equal chance to win.

As the election enters its final stretch, it appears the presidential race remains close with a tight margin between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, the balance of power in the U.S. is up for grabs.

ABC News projects that Cruz will win the U.S. Senate race in Texas. With roughly 74% of the expected vote in, the incumbent Republican leads his challenger -- Rep. Colin Allred -- by 10 percentage points, 54% to 44%.
ABC News projects that Democrat Angela Alsobrooks will win the open U.S. Senate seat in Maryland.
She faced off against Republican Larry Hogan, the former governor in the state. Alsobrooks will replace Sen. Ben Cardin, who retired in May after five decades in politics. With roughly 53% of the expected vote in, Alsobrooks led Hogan 60% to 39%. The Democrat's victory makes her the first Black U.S. senator in Maryland's history.
Mississippi and its six Electoral College votes go to Trump.
Like its neighbor Alabama, Mississippi was last won by a Democrat in 1976, when Southerner Jimmy Carter won the presidency in what was the last gasp of the "Solid South." What was once one of the most reliable Democratic regions of the country is now one of the most reliably Republican regions.
At 73% of the vote reporting, ABC News has projected Trump will carry Ohio, and its 17 Electoral College votes.
They also project Democrat Greg Landsman will defeat Republican Orlando Sonza in Ohio's 1st Congressional District in central and northeast Cincinnati. Landsman leads 53%-47%, with 82% of the expected vote reporting.
